One of the leading Sci-Vi Case activities is the collaboration with TED-Ed, the educational initiative of TED, with whom we have worked since 2014 to create animated video lectures about important scientific issues. Throughout the years the partnership has grown and produced more than 30 lectures with some having been represented at several international film festivals. With over 6 million views from a worldwide audience, the mission to share information about important issues with the general public in a way that everybody can understand no matter where they are from seems to have been met. In this image-based era animation provides opportunity to explain almost anything, even complicated problems, in a simple way while preserving validity. During the last 6 years various fields were covered from STEM as well as history, literature, and social topics. The voice-over track is in English, but subtitles are available in more than 20 languages.
2020 Climate theme
In 2020 the TED-Ed initiative was dedicated to create lectures about the alarming topic of our climate. The Sci-Vi initiative is interested in raising awareness about climate consciousness in everyday life. Several new videos were released this year including those about saving endangered animals, following the life cycle of coral reefs, the best use of plastic bags, or how humans evolved to adapt to the changing life circumstances of their habitat. The initiative has an amazing talented Viborg based team of award winning directors like Mette Ilene Homlriis, Jody Ghani Nordby, Denis Chapon, Zsuzsanna Kreif and Ouros Animation which is a duo formed by Rikke Planeta and Philip Piaget. These videos were part of the world climate summit called COUNTDOWN organized online by TED in October 2020. Sci-Vi is part of the mission to spread information about important issues and change people’s attitude and behavior for a better, cleaner, and greener future.
