The Media Arts category includes cities such as Lyon, Toronto, and Tel Aviv-Yafo among others.

The selection will be announced at a large celebration in June 2020 in Brazil, but the new title will be celebrated in Viborg as well, according to Ulrik Wilbek, The Mayor of Viborg.

Viborg will be the only Nordic UNESCO Creative City in the category “Media Arts” and the first events are already in the pipeline: An animation and sustainability workshop during Viborg Animation Festival 2020, visual mediation of Viborg’s history, networking events within business, culture, and education and more.

The network “Media Arts” consists of 17 cities around the world. The new members this year are Viborg (Denmark), Karlsruhe (Germany), and Santiago de Cali (Colombia).

The Animation Workshop is proud to be a part of the strong visual industry in Viborg, and we consider it a milestone and a great achievement.
