Last week Michelle and Uri Kranot from The Animation Workshop had a world premiere on “The Garden Says…”, a new full multi-user XR installation featuring live performers and projection and received a honourable mention in the INTER:ACTIVE category.

The Garden Says… invites participants into an immersive ecosystem where VR and live performance merge. Analogue and digital worlds intertwine, revealing connections between humans, nature, and technology.

Michelle and Uri were thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive reception from both the jury and audience at CPH:DOX, with around 1,000 people experiencing the XR installation:

“We couldn’t have asked for a better opening, as we gathered powerful reactions and testimonies—valuable insights for our ongoing research on human connection in virtual worlds.”

In awarding The Garden Says… an honourable mention, the jury noted:

“Centered on the aesthetic experience of a virtual garden and the serenity of chance encounters, this work dares to create a space where actions unfold organically, and it does so with remarkable success. This work is not just an environment, but an invitation—one that encourages a return exploration and the continuous possibility of new meetings. Thank you for offering us a heartfelt and personal experience, one that reminds us of the power of connection and shared presence. We are delighted to give an honourable mention to ‘The Garden Says…’ by Michelle and Uri Kranot.”

You can experience The Garden Says… at Museum Jorn later this year, where it’s planned to be exhibited through the fall and winter of 2025/26.

The Garden Says… is an ongoing research project led by Michelle and Uri Kranot under immersive storytelling at the research and development dept., The Animation Workshop / VIA University College
