Updates to the Animation programme

The animation programme (Character Animation and Computer Graphic Arts) at TAW is a creative, practice-oriented bachelor's degree where students learn to bring stories, characters and worlds to life across media and platforms. Here is an overview of the most important changes, which will come into effect from the 2026 intake and onwards.

Animation today moves fluidly between film, series, games, interactive formats and emerging digital spaces. Our updated programme reflects this reality and prepares students to work professionally in an industry shaped by rapid technological development, global collaboration and new production methods.

The programme has been redesigned in line with the Danish national reform of professional bachelor's degree programmes. For you as a future students, this means stronger links to industry practise and clearer progression through their studies, making graduates not only creatively confident, but professionally ready.

The programme will be changed from 3½ years to 3 years and 3 months starting with the 2026 intake. The updated programme is structured to strengthen core animation competencies while ensuring a close connection between artistic development, technical skills, and professional practice. The overall study structure creates stronger coherence between courses and projects and prioritises competences most relevant to the contemporary animation industry.

Practice-based learning is central to the programme’s identity and has been further strengthened in line with the national reform’s emphasis on professional relevance. Internships are closely integrated with your academic learning, ensuring that your experience in a studio or company becomes an active and meaningful part of student development.

Through collaboration with industry partners, professional feedback from guest teachers and authentic production tasks and learning environments, students gain insight into workplace expectations and build networks that support your transition into employment.
