PAIR - Plastic Artist in Residency Programme

A collaboration with The Animation Workshop - VIA University College and PLASTIC Collective.

The Professional Artist in Residency Programme (PAIR) is a joint initiative led by The Animation Workshop – VIA University College (TAW) and PLASTIC Collective in Viborg, Denmark. It is a 3- 4-month professional residency for visual artists working on projects using the animation medium.

The primary objective of the PAIR programme is for the artist to conceptualise and realise a digital art prototype. ´
Artists are encouraged to explore diverse aspects of digital art, spanning animation, video mapping, apps, games, and XR technologies, while fostering connections with peers from Viborg and beyond.

PAIR aims to facilitate collaboration and network-building within the region for future co-productions, partnerships, and opportunities, beneficial for the students, staff, and professional animation industry, by engaging the artists in the professional and vibrant animation community in Viborg. At the same time, we create the basis for future work and innovation in the animation field, bringing new ideas into play within the educational institution, Viborg Animation Festival as well as the Viborg UNESCO Creative City network, thus giving the project an international reach.

PLASTIC's in-house team includes experts in animation, production, game development, and performing arts, enriching the experience for artists, and expanding their professional network and thus, through tailored consultancy sessions, industry engagement, project showcasing, and access to TAW R&D resources, residents receive personalised guidance, valuable insights, constructive critique, and access to tools and initiatives for artistic development, research, and innovation.

The PLASTIC Artist in Residency (PAIR) programme offers a distinctive opportunity for established artists to conceive and develop digital art projects using animation as a medium.

In collaboration with PLASTIC Collective and The Animation Workshop – VIA University College (TAW), this initiative provides comprehensive support customised to meet the unique needs of each artist.
