UNESCO Residency

The Viborg UNESCO Creative City Artist Residency Programme provides a unique opportunity for an established artist to conceive and develop a digital art project tailored for public spaces in Viborg.

This project is designed to enrich the cultural landscape of the city, and can be produced to be exhibited in either an indoor or outdoor location such as a library, a park, a parking lot, a supermarket or similar venue.

Facilitated in collaboration with PLASTIC Collective and The Animation Workshop – VIA University College (TAW), this initiative offers comprehensive support made to fit the individual artist's needs. This support includes accommodation, financial assistance, travel provisions, expert consultancy, dedicated workspace, and the option to collaborate with VFX assistants. The artist is encouraged to explore various facets of digital art, including animation, video mapping, apps, games, and XR technologies, while fostering connections with fellow artists from Viborg and beyond.

As a participant of the Artist Residency, the selected artist gains access to an exclusive network comprising international Creative Cities, facilitated by Viborg UNESCO Creative City. Working within the framework of PLASTIC Collective ensures access to specialised consultants and industry insiders in the digital art sphere, enriching the residency experience and fostering professional connections.

The primary aim of the Viborg UNESCO Creative City Artist Residency Programme is for the artist to conceptualise and realise a digital art prototype accessible to the wider public within public spaces. Additionally, the selected project may have the opportunity to tour other UNESCO Media Arts Cities, thereby amplifying its reach and impact.

Programme Offers:

Travel - Support is provided for travel expenses incurred during the residency period.
