    Open Education:

    Animation Film Production is an Open Education program, part of the VIA Diploma in Leadership. Open Education is a wide range of educational programs in Denmark offered to adults who wish to undergo further training. It is open to anybody who has successfully passed our admission criteria: You must as a minimum have completed a higher education at the minimum bachelor level, a relevant short higher education or a higher adult education. In addition, you must have a minimum of two years' relevant work experience after graduation. In certain cases, applicants without formal education can be accepted if they have a solid professional experience.

  • Structure and content

    The Open Education Course ” Animation Film Production” is a package of three project-based modules on a diploma-level in production of animated film and interactive media based on the education “Diploma in Leadership” offered by VIA University College.

    The courses consists of five seminars at The Animation Workshop plus self study and practice-testing.

    During the course period, the students will be guided through a production from start to end. They will work on how to set up a budget, production plan, financial plan, completion plan, technical plan, distribution and tv-deals. Including how to prepare a project presentation and recruitment of creative key roles.

    In every seminar, there will be a guest teacher from the animation business in addition to the regular teachers.

  • Fees and finances

    EU and non-EU-citizens: 3.883 EUR (approx 29.000 DKK)

    This covers the teaching and tea/coffee during the seminars.

    Please note: You will be asked to pay the fee in three installments.

    Participants who do not hold an education on BA level, and therefore accepted through professional experience, are legible to apply for a special type of state funding of up to 20.000 DKK.

    The course fee is reduced thanks to financial support from Vision Denmark.

    Therese Sachse has been working with animation since 1999. During these 20 years, she has obtained a great deal of experience when it comes to international productions, both on TV series and feature films.     Process consultant, lecturer and concept developer

    Peter Jespersen, teaches in a number of subjects at the diploma program in Management. He also works as a process consultant, lecturer and concept developer. For a period of 20 years, Peter has been involved in management and staff development in various contexts. He holds degrees in Law and Psychology and has taken part in a variety of further training activities in Denmark and in the US related to management and staff development.

    Lars Gottschling-Knudsen

    Lars Gottschling-Knudsen

    Master in International Business

    Lars Gottschling-Knudsen teaches project management with a focus on economy and profit realization, using agile project management methods. He holds a Master in International Business and has followed a number of further training courses in related fields. He also has a long experience with project management in Denmark and Germany, primarily in the banking and financing sectors.

    Petter Lindblad

    Film Producer

    Petter Lindblad has been in the industry since 2005. In 2007 Petter Lindblad started working as a producer, mainl on animation projects, on features such as The Apple & The Worm (2009), The Great Bear (2011) and Beyond Beyond (2014). In 2014 he created his own production company 'Snowcloud Films AB', where he has created Lea & The Lost Pirates (2015), Siv Sleeps Astray (2016). Petter Lindblad will do a guest lecture about financing.

    Philip Einstein Lipski

    Philip Einstein Lipski


    Philip Einstein Lipski started working in the commercial business since 2000 doing creative marketing for films like 'Terkel i knibe' (2004) and 'Rejsen til Saturn' (2008). After having gone solo in 2007 he continued working with films, among others the Swedish-Danish millennium trilogy 'Mænd der hader kvinder' (2009), and 'Klovn – the Movie' (2010). In 2009 he started the company 'Einstein Film' in cooperation with Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen og producer Trine Heidegaard. Lipski’s debut as a director was the animated feature 'Ronal Barbaren' (2011) and since then he has been directing the animated feature 'Den utrolige historie om den kæmpestore pære' (2017) with Jørgen Lerdam and Amalie Næsby Fick. Lipski will be guest lecturing on pitching.

    Jimmi Gravesen

    Jimmi Gravesen

    Jimmi has a BA(Hons) in "3D Animation And Visualization" from the National Center For Computer Animation in Bournemouth, England. He worked for a few years as a software developer in the Research and Development department at The Moving Picture Company in London on high-end, large scale VFX productions for film. Over the last 9 years he has been working as the Head of Technology at one of Scandinavia's largest animation studios, Wil Film ApS Here he has been building up the studio pipeline and production workflows, catering for various types of CGI projects ranging from short commercials to large tv-series. In the second seminar, he will share his knowledge on this with the students od the Animation Film Production course.
