Solar Walk

  • About

Solar Walk shows the journey of individuals and their creations through time and space.

Solar Walk takes the audience on a cross aesthetic journey into the puzzling and immense solar system. The project was originally a one-hour live performance composed by Niels Marthinsen and jazz singer Susi Hyldgaard, with animated images by award-winning director Réka Bucsi and performed live by Aarhus Jazz Orchestra feat. Susi Hyldgaard and Ingeborg Thisted Højlund conducted by Nikolai Bøgelund.

The performance combines high quality, original, modern jazz big band music, poetic songs, and animated images. It is an innovative and experimental performance creating a strong artistic and emotional experience for audiences of all ages by presenting the story of the solar system and our role in it.

Solar Walk has since been turned into a mystical short film by director Réka Bucsi. It dwells on the melancholy of accepting chaos as beautiful and cosmic. Passion for creation is projected through the unique and playful texture of the animation craft itself. The film had its world premiere at the 68th Berlinale in 2018.
