  • Instructor:

    Martin Rauff-Nielsen, Baaring Stories ApS

    Content

World building is a complex area with a multitude of possible processes that all have the main goal of creating and describing original fictional worlds. The storytelling aspect will be integrated and connected with world building in this workshop.

This workshop will focus on working both in an open, creative mode and a more structured, rational mode. Participants will work in groups on creating new, original fictional worlds based on a few obstructions and prompts. The second part of the workshop will focus on formulating a mini story bible, a document consisting of both written and visuals parts that clearly define the fictional worlds that participants created in the first part of the workshop. The third part of the workshop consists of using the story bible as the basis for storytelling, and the participants will be guided in this process. At the end of the whole workshop, the groups will present their worlds and stories to the other participants.

    Key objectives

The designers will leave the course with

    • A structured method to generate original ideas
    • An understanding of both the creative mode and the rational mode and when to apply which

He is well-known as the game master for the role-playing universe Barda.

We had three incredibly fun days. A course is always a nice break from the every-day work, but this one takes home the win for the best course that we ever had.Sune Jørgensen, Monstrum
