What you will learn

During the course, you will become familiar with the game production process, with a focus on the game design aspect. First you will create a simple game design and a game design document (GDD), then test the idea through small prototype(s). During that process, you will be introduced to game engine functionality and visual scripting.

Focus of the game design process will be on developing the gameplay rather than the visual design of the game. Main tools will be 3D software and Unreal Engine.

Course materials and equipment

You will be working on a TAW computer with all necessary software (Unreal Engine, 3D Modelling software, Photoshop).

Time schedule

You will receive a detailed course schedule shortly before the course starts. Expect 5½ hours of teaching on Mondays (starting 09:30), 6 hours of teaching Tuesday to Thursday, and 5 hours of teaching on Fridays (ending 15:00).

  • The course is designed for physically present participants, and we strongly encourage physical presence, since physically present participants will get more out of the course. However, participants who are unable to attend physically may participate online, if they are aware of the fact that the course was not designed as an online course. The teacher will strive to include online participants as much as possible in both lectures and assignments, but the online experience will not be the same as the experience of taking the course physically.

  • Housing is not included in the course fee, but here are some suggestions for how and where to find accommodation:

    The student dorm Camp Logos

If you have any questions in relation to housing during your course, please contact taw.housing@via.dk

Please note: It is only possible to rent a room for minimum 1 month.
