Specific entry requirements

Admission based on an assessment of individual qualifications

If you do not meet the admissions requirement for an upper secondary school certificate, you can apply for admission based on an assessment of individual qualifications.

This is an opportunity for applicants who took a different path than upper secondary school to apply for admission based on qualifications achieved through other means (professional experience, courses, etc.).

Together with your application for admissions based on other qualifications, you must submit a CV along with documentation for the activities (courses, jobs, etc.) which have given you the relevant qualifications.

You can read more about the application procedure here.

Please note that the requirement for English proficiency is unconditional. This means that you cannot be exempt from this specific requirement. If you do not already have an exam on the required level, you must deliver a test as described here.

Application deadline: March 15.

The Master’s degree rule

According to Danish law, applicants who already hold a previous Master’s degree can only be admitted to higher education programs if there are available seats after selecting among all other qualified applicants.

This does not mean that applicants with Master’s degrees will be rejected automatically, but that they will be last in line for available seats.

The Master's degree rule applies to all students that have completed a Master's degree equivalent to a Danish Master’s degree no matter where it has been completed.

You can apply for a dispensation from the rule based on exceptional circumstances. If you would like to apply for a dispensation, you must submit an application letter along with a description of and documentation for your unusual circumstances. The application must be uploaded along with your application on www.optagelse.dk.

Please note that an exemption from the rule only grants access to having your application and portfolio evaluated on equal footing with all other applicants. It does not automatically grant access to the education.

Deadline for applying for an exemption from the Master’s degree rule: March 15.

Mandatory credit transfer

If you have already earned credits within Animation or Graphic Storytelling, or if you have substantial professional experience, you might qualify for credit transfer.

When you apply for admission, you must inform us whether you have completed Danish or international programs on a similar level. You are also required to tell us if you have been employed in the field.

If one or more of the educational elements you have completed as part of a higher education corresponds to one or more parts of the program you have been admitted to, the credits will be transferred.

If your previous credits are approved, it normally means that you cannot participate in lectures or take exams in the educational parts of the program which you received credit transfer for.

The credit transfer is mandatory (it is not up to you as an applicant to decide whether or not you apply for credit transfer).

You can read more about the credit transfer rules and procedures here.

Application deadline: March 15

Apply for transfer into Animation or Graphic Storytelling

If you would like to transfer into one of the programs, you must apply as a freshman and provide documentation for the education you would like to have assessed for credit transfer. The documentation must consist of both course/module descriptions, credit transfer and sufficient relevant visual material (portfolio, showreel etc.) to show your current skill level.

If one or more of the educational elements you have completed as part of a higher education correspond to one or more parts of the program you are admitted to, the credits will be transferred.

If your previous credits are transferred, it means that you cannot participate in lectures or take exams in the educational parts of the program which you received credit transfer for.

This also means that if you already have a full BA degree or similar qualifications within the subject field that you apply to, we unfortunately cannot accept your application.

Application deadline: March 15
