What you will learn

Alexandra

1. year

Introduction to design and 3D

The first year of the CGA programme is designed to teach you the fundamentals on your journey of becoming a digital artist: Design, concept art and film & animation history as well as 3D modelling software.

In the thorough introduction, you will make your way through most of the 3D workflow with a focus on modelling characters and environments.

Throughout the year, you will work on your own projects but will also grow your collaborative, communication and problem-solving skills on a 2D group project with the Character Animation students.

Creature Project 2021 by Computer Graphic Arts students

2. year

Creature- and commercial project

In the second year, you will broaden your 3D skillset and software knowledge.

You will create a digital creature, from the initial concept to realising it in 3D and finally integrating it into a live-action background.

You will also collaborate with the CA students on a group project where you will learn how to work with clients and target an audience, simulating industry scenarios.

During the elective time, you will have a chance to dive deeper into a specific area, or explore uncharted land to specialise your skills within the areas of your interest.

Cut It Out

3. year

Bachelor production and portfolio

You will compile your portfolio and showreel to highlight your skills as you apply for internships and prepare to target the jobs of your choice.

You will also form production teams with other students from your year to create your final production.

  • Student accommodation

In Denmark, on-campus student accommodation provided by universities and colleges is not available, as is the case in many other countries. This means that students are responsible for finding housing on their own.

Dorm rooms in Viborg typically cost between 2500-3500 DKK (250-470 EUR) per month depending on size and whether you are willing to share facilities. Utility expenses, like electricity, internet and heating, are often paid separately and cost around 600 DKK (80 EUR) per month.

For further information and great tips for finding student accommodation in Denmark and Viborg check out our student accommodation page

  • Tuition fee

Students from the EU and EEA countries study are exempt from paying tuition fees in Denmark. However, if you are a non-EU or EEA applicant, there are certain criteria that determine whether you are eligible for free tuition or not. Visit our page about tuition fees to find answers on deadlines, documenting your residency status and eligibility for free tuition.

For students who are not eligible for free tuition, paying the first year’s fee is a precondition for obtaining a student’s residence permit.

The tuition fee is billed in Danish kroner.

    Deadline for paying tuition fee

Deadline for payment of tuition fee is 1 June.

  • Visa and residence permit in Denmark

When travelling to Denmark you need to have the right permits in place. Depending on how long you are planning on staying and where you come from, you may need a visa or a residence permit. Find out how to get a visa and residence permit in Denmark here.

  • Students admitted to Character Animation and Computer Graphic Arts in 2023 and onwards are recommended to bring their drawing tablets.

Workstations as well as the software we teach will be provided.

Student statements

Location wasn't really a factor when choosing schools, I chose based off of student work and who was doing what I wanted to be doing! The school being located in Denmark was a chance for adventure though! Tristan Gallagher, Computer Graphic Arts 2016-2020
