Admission test
The admission test will be online, so you work from home (or where you prefer). It consists of various assignments – more information below. In all cases, the purpose of the test is for us to get a sense of your skill level and problem-solving abilities as well as your ability to structure your work process within a deadline.
You are free to use the software of your choice. You can also use paper, but you will need to submit the assignments digitally in a high quality so we can assess it accordingly.
Character Animation and CG Arts
A 4 hour individual online test, consisting of small drawing assignments, testing your:
- ability to structure your time and make decisions
- ability to follow directions,
- drawing and storytelling skills.
Graphic Storytelling
A 3½ hour individual online test, in which you draw 1+ page of comics based on a given prompt, testing your:
- ability to structure your time
- ability to follow directions,
- writing, drawing, and visual storytelling skills
and a 1 hour individual online test, in which you write an essay based on a specific prompt, testing your:
- level of reflection as a potential future graphic storyteller
- ability to argue and reason convincingly.
Admission interview
In addition to the admission test you must participate in an individual admission interview. We are looking for ambitious, curious and reflective students, who are eager to learn and open to collaborating with others.
Location: In person at The Animation Workshop. (If you are unable to join us in Viborg, it is possible to arrange an online interview – but we highly recommend doing the interview in person).
Duration: 20-25 min.
Interviewers: Two or three faculty members from the admission board.
Topics: The three main topics will be:
- Your motivation for studying at TAW – What do you expect to learn and what are your career goals?
- Your test and portfolio – Reflections on your work process and strengths and areas for improvement.
- Your past experiences with studying and working, and how you can use these experiences as a student at TAW.
You are not allowed to record or bring anyone to the interview.
When will you hear from us?
By the end of May/start of June, we will let you know if you passed the admission test and interview or not. A passed admission test and interview does not guarantee final admission. We have many qualified applicants for a limited number of study places.
You will be informed individually as we process your application.
Final responses (accepted/not accepted) will be provided 28 July, 2025 (at nemstudie.dk/optagelse.dk).
