Step 1: Prepare your documentation

Before you start the application process, you must have your documentation ready.

Certificates and exam requirements

The deadline for submitting your upper secondary school certificates is 15 March at 12.00 noon.

If you graduate the same year as you are applying, you may submit your exam certificate later. The final deadline for submitting your diploma is 5 July at 12.00 noon.

  • The following Danish upper secondary school certificates grant access to Bachelor in Animation (Character Animation, CG Arts) and/or Bachelor in Graphic Storytelling:

    • STX, HHX, HTX, EUX & IB/EB-Diploma
    • HF
    • EUD Mediegrafiker
    • EUD Grafisk tekniker (only grants access to Graphic Storytelling)
    • EUD Digital Media (only grants access to Animation (Character Animation and CG Arts))

Danish exam certificates and exam results will be uploaded automatically when you submit the application through www.optagelse.dk using MitID.

  • You can apply based on a foreign upper secondary school certificate (high school, baccalaureate, IB or similar).

    Non-Danish applicants must submit

    • a copy of the original exam certificate
    • a transcript of records
    • a state-authorised translation of their transcript of records in either Danish or English

If you apply based on foreign exam results or you are not sure whether your exam can be considered equal to upper secondary certificates, you can check the list on the website of the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

English language proficiency

All applicants (including native English speakers) must document English proficiency. It must be equivalent to a Danish B-level with a minimum weighted grade point average score of 2.0 on the Danish grading scale.

The final deadline for submitting valid proof of English proficiency through www.optagelse.dk – either as an upper secondary school certificate or as a proficiency test – is 5 July at 12 noon.

  • To meet the English proficiency requirement through your upper secondary school, you must be able to document that your English proficiency can be equated to a Danish B-level with a minimum weighted grade point average score of 2.0 on the Danish grading scale. A Danish B-level in English is a min. of 210 study hours of 60 minutes each obtained during the final three years in upper secondary school. Use the verification form to document this.

The grades from your upper Secondary School Certificate will be converted into Danish grades. Note that the rules for conversion differ for each country, so it is not possible to standardise the methods for this conversion.

  • If your upper secondary qualification does not meet the required level and scores, you must take an English proficiency test.

Find an overview over the accepted language tests and required scores. Note that the test result from IELTS and TOEFL cannot be more than two years old at the time of study start.

Credit transfer

  • If you would like to transfer into one of the programmes, you must apply like a first-year student and provide documentation for the education you would like to have assessed for credit transfer. The documentation must consist of both course/module descriptions, credit transfer and sufficient relevant visual material (portfolio, showreel etc.) to show your current skill level.

In case one or more of the educational elements you have completed as part of a higher education corresponds to one or more parts of the programme you are admitted to, the credits will be transferred.

If your previous credits are transferred, it means that you cannot participate in lectures or take exams in the educational parts of the programme which you received credit transfer for.

This also means that if you already have a full BA degree or similar qualifications within the subject field that you are applying for, we unfortunately cannot accept your application.

    Application deadline: 15 March.
