Step 3: Apply via Optagelse.dk no later than 15 March at 12 noon

Be sure to upload your application in good time. Latecomers are not accepted.

How to apply

You apply via optagelse.dk. The application opens 1 February and closes 15 March at 12.00 noon (UTC+1). Be aware that Graphic Storytelling only admit students every other year. Next time is 2027.

You can start on your application at optagelse.dk from 1 February and work on it continuously until deadline. The site is very busy on the day of the deadline, since the deadline applies to almost every higher education in Denmark. Be sure to upload your application in good time in advance. Latecomers are not accepted.

Tip: The optagelse.dk platform works best on a PC rather than on a mobile device. For the smoothest experience, we recommend using a computer when completing your application.

When you apply, it is essential that you follow the instructions in the guides for optagelse.dk:

Danish applicants

International applicants

Please pay attention to how to attach documents. Only the correctly attached documents linked to the study programme you are applying for will be sent to us.

  • If you apply without a Danish CPR number/MitID, we need your signature to get access to your application. This means that you must send in a signature page for each of the programmes you are applying for.

The signature page is a PDF document generated by optagelse.dk with a unique application ID, which VIA’s admissions office uses to identify your application. VIA must receive the signature page(s) before 15 March 12:00 noon. It is not possible to uploade signature pages to the admission portal, but please e-mail it to apply@via.dk.

Send one e-mail per signature page/programme and indicate in the subject field which programme you are applying for.

You can start by gathering your documents, completing your application on optagelse.dk, and send the signature page. Your portfolio can be added later. Just make sure to upload your portfolio no later than 15 March at 12:00 noon (UTC+1).

Your application is not valid until you do the above and will be rejected unless we receive the signature page by 15 March at 12:00 noon.

You will receive an automatic confirmation email from apply@via.dk when we have received your email. It is your responsibility to check that you have attached and sent the signature page correctly. We do not check this before we proceed with your application after the deadline.

  • When applying for our programs, you can apply to be on the standby list. This is a waiting list used if study places become available, for example, if an admitted applicant withdraws shortly before or after the program starts. There are very few standby spots. They are used to avoid starting classes with vacant places.

To apply, tick the “Standby” box when completing your application at Optagelse.dk.

What it means if you are offered a spot on the standby list

    • You may be offered a study place up until September 18, 2026, if someone withdraws.
    • If not, you will be offered a study place the next intake in 2027. Further instructions will be given in your preapproved admission letter.
    • If you are offered a study place this year and do not respond or decline, you lose your standby status and cannot carry it over to the next intake.

Should you apply for the standby list?

    It depends on your priorities:

    • Is Animation your top priority, and are you willing to wait or reapply?
→ Then we recommend applying for the standby list.
    • Do you want to start studying this year, even if it’s not Animation?
→ Then do not apply for the standby list. While on standby, you cannot be admitted to other Danish programs listed lower in your priorities.

Applying to be on the standby list does not negatively affect your chances of being admitted to the program this year.

Read more about Standby at VIAs website.
